A showcase of 50 geosynthetics projects by Indian companies feature in a new digital brochure.

Created by IGS India, 'Geosynthetics in India: Case Histories' presents a comprehensive cross-section of applications including reinforced soil walls and erosion control projects, to coastal protection and landfill linings. Each two-page listing summarises the project, the geosynthetics solution, and imagery.

The case studies, contributed by the companies that are members of IGS India, span the breadth of India from Tamil Nadu to Uttarakhand, but also include those in Iran and Burma. Organizers hope the document, which was launched at the recent GeoAsia8 conference in Brisbane last week, will inspire greater use and understanding of geosynthetics materials.

Chapter Vice President Dola Roychowdhury said: "India has a long geosynthetics legacy. However, client engineers are often hesitant in adopting geosynthetics in projects because of a lack of confidence in individual producer-driven specifications or product applications.

"We hope this compilation will boost confidence and improve the propagation of geosynthetics awareness not just to engineers but the wider community of students, academicians, consultants, contractors and government engineers."

The flipbook is available in hardcopy and digital, with free download via IGS India's Publications section.

New editions are expected annually. The Chapter also plans to digitize some of its other resources to grow audience.

+++ IGS India is looking for case studies for future editions. If you are an Indian geosynthetics producer or consultant, find out more by emailing contact@geosyntheticsindia.org.
